this is old english spelling, it's not commonly used today.
you could definately use 'also' or 'too'

Well I sometimes put "aswell" and I do get confuddled because there are so many people around here who spell things in American rather than English and then some English people don't know how to spell so it's hard to tell if people actually know or if they are copying the right people.

No, it can't but you could try confounding the convention by making up an entirely new word, instead.
"zwell" for example. You can't say that's not how you spell zwell. Spell check will try but that's what "add to dictionary" is for.

of course it CAN, --you can string any number of words together--and people do it all the time, unfortunately. But it SHOULDN'T be, not if you want to be viewed as a literate, articulate person.
