Yes. I live in Idaho. I used to live in Eagle from 1995 to 2001 (just a few minutes from Boise). The growth of the Boise area was so obvious to me because I saw the growth in Eagle. Eagle was this tiny town that I could hardly believe anyone would call a city. And by the time I moved away, most of the farm fields were gone and replaced with subdivisions. Eagle Road was widened to 4 lanes and is now busier than I ever remember seeing it when it was just 2 lanes. And I remember the rinky-dink library in Eagle that was 1 room only. Now they have a good size library near the post office.
Seeing all of these changes in Eagle, it's no surprise to me that Boise has grown so much. It seems like it's grown a lot. But it can be very difficult to see the growth unless you think back to previous years. Although I've lived in Boise too, I can't think of any specific changes (but then again, I only lived there for about 2 years).
I think Idaho, overall, is a very popular state. There are so many things to do that you don't find in some other states (such as: white water rafting, rock climbing, good hunting and fishing, mountain biking, and you get the idea). This state has so much variety that most people can find something they like about it. And the low humidity is definitely a plus (when you compare it with Eastern states that have high humidity - usually above 70%). Another great thing is that most of Idaho isn't so dense in population. Crowds can be a big turn-off for people looking to get away from civilization so Idaho works well for them. Just a few reasons why I think people like to visit/live here.

Yes, people know it's there. That's why all the celebrities and Californians are buying up all the cheap property and ruining Idaho's cost of living. I have a lot of family in the Coeur d'Alene area, and more in and around Twin Falls. Even have a cousin who is the Post Master in Sun Valley. So I spend a lot of time there. Enjoy the real Idaho while you still can.

I have a house in Pierce, ID. It is a town with a population of about 600 people. I have never been around Boise, but I have been though it. I think it's pretty sizable. Not huge though. I have also been to Jerome County. I think Idaho is the most beautiful secret on Earth. That's my opinion...
