Well, there isnt actually a database somewhere that lists people that have been evicted from a home. However, as far as your credit goes, if the landlord turns you into collections/civil court/ etc. it will remain on there until you pay it. So ya, good luck with that.

If (and a big if) the landlord reports it to the credit bureaus then 7 years. (Most don't unless you owe them big $) The public record though is there forever, it's a matter of how easily can it be found. Some courts this is as easy as a web search, others you have to go to the court and search the records by hand to find any information.

The tenant would have to report it to be on your credit report I think. But the only public record would be the court of origin where the eviction was filed.

In my case, my unpaid quantity went to collections, and that stayed for a lengthy time period even after I had paid it off. a number of credit organizations (and would-be landlords) ought to and would assume through the itemizing that i became evicted. i did not have any problem getting a clean position after eviction. i became instantly ahead with them, instructed them what got here about (organisation failure) and in no way ignored a lease price after that. i got here across out that if there's a useful explaination (divorce, ailment, etc) for undesirable stuff on your credit that in lots of cases that is missed.
