If you decide to compare yourself to others, you can always find someone who's doing better than you are at something. Someone else has a better job, or a newer car, a bigger house, travels to more exotic places, kids that get better grades or who are better athletes - the list is endless.
You need to learn that their lives are not your life; you need to decide what is important to you, and pursue that goal. You say you want to go to college; make that a goal, and work hard to accomplish it. Lots of people don't go to college right after high school because of money. If you've saved that money yourself, you will realize the value of that education all the more. Once you do start college, I'm sure you'll see a rich kid who parties all the time, drives a flashy car, and flunks out after a couple of semesters. That's because someone has handed them everything they've ever had in life - they never have earned it themself. You have an advantage they don't - you know the effort required to get there on your own, and the education you get will be that much more valuable. If you want more proof of this, find a copy of the book "The Millionaire Mind" by Thomas J. Stanley. It may help you realize what you have done, and what you can do.

hon, don't feel anything but accomplished! most people your age don't know what it is to work a full day or even a half day, and yet you did it for three years just to go and spend four more years studying! my sis graduated college 5 years ago and is just now starting medical school, so she's gonna be OLD *by her standards ;)* when she graduates. But she needed space and time and money, so she did it when she could, not when everybody else did. and i dropped out of college, so i think i know how you feel....i missed out on some of the college stuff and graduating, but i had to, and now i wouldn't change a second of it, 'cause real world experience is gonna mean more in the long AND short run of things than all the book learning of a lifetime. don't sweat it hon, just realize that you did what most people don't ever have to...you worked for something you wanted, and now you got it. have fun!
*if you still feel lost or left behind, find a good friend to talk to, or some new friends to start out with! if you need any help, feel free to email me...i'm not a trained anything but i can listen. :)*

Trust me, you're not alone. These days, a lot of people have to put off college until they can save enough money. A lot of people who are even older than you are just now starting college. I started when I was 23, so you're doing even better than I did! I used to feel the way you are feeling now. Once you start college, you'll meet a lot of new friends - some will be younger than you and some will be older. As for your current friends, whether or not their in school, they're still your friends, right? Stop wasting time worrying about it - you'll totally forget you ever felt this way once you go to school - which sounds like it will be very soon =) Good luck!

Usually a little more mature student does much better. There are many first year flunk outs from college, but I am sure with your working for your tuition you will appreciate it and do better than the average first year college student. You have a taste of real life whereas younger ones don't often have enough yet, so you will be able to be more practical. Learning is lifelong, and you see many more older students these days, even into their retirement. Also it is becoming common to have 2 or 3 careers in your lifetime, so you'll probably meet some returning students when you get to College. Hang in there. You're worth it!

i didn't even go to college and I'm not worried about it, and you shouldn't either
ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE
always think of having your feelings but on the opposite end
like...
if you went to college and are graduating and looking for a job, and everywhere you go they ask do you have any xp, where have you worked before... o no where you've been playing student the last 4 years learning how to pass tests you find hard to be relevant in life..OK well keep your profile on record and let you know
of course it goes the other way..o you have no education.. so we will give you the job but pay you half of what someone with a degree would get
the important thing is to be happy.. which is something you must want in order for you to have
and then do what it takes to get it

Be thankful for what you have you are blessed to be starting college and working some people son't even have a job. you are 21 your life has just begun and when you get that degree and that great job you'll look back and smile at how lost you felt and how you made it through believe me you will have lots more to worry about later in life so ENJOY YOUR YOUTH!

DONT EVER FOR A SECOND THINK THAT U ARE LEFT BEHIND....THERE ARE 60 YEAR OLDS WHO ARE JUST NOW FINISHING HIGH SCHOOL!!1....THE POINT IS U ARE STILL GOING TO GO TO SCHOOL.....
U should be proud that you are going to school off of your hard earned money.....thats something to tell your future children about. by you saving up and never quitting you are showing the world that you WILL succeed in life. So many of your age group throw away these years on drugs, liquor, and sex ...never knowing what it TRULY means to WORK AND EARN for the things u want in life...however u DO KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS.....u know exactly how hard it is and now because of that you will appreciate college all the more for it...
so LIFT YOUR HEAD UP BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF......

And when you finish college, the reward will be all the sweeter because, you wont have a student loan to pay off, and how rewarding you will feel to work for something you want.
Everything pays off in the end, if you want it bad enough
Hang in there!!!!
