Go to the big casinos on the strip; Bellagio, Mirage, Paris, Mandalay Bay, New York New York, MGM Grand, etc...it's fun to walk through them. Also, for shopping go to the Forum Shops at Caesars and the Canal Shops at Venetian.
Go see a show or 2--my fave is O at Bellagio, Danny Gans at Mirage is good too (he does impersonations).
There are also Elvis and Liberace musems close by. Imperial Palace has a cool antique car museum.

It's fun (and free) just to stroll up and down the Strip, popping into whichever casino strikes your fancy. The Fremont Street Experience downtown is a lot of fun. There's the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory (one free sample at the end of the tour). The Bellagio fountains are free. The T.I. Experience is free, too...thought they shouldn't have fixed what wasn't broken, but I digress. The volcano is free and draws a big crowd.

Eat a crepe in Paris, take a gondola ride at the Venetian, visit the Botanical Conservatory at the Bellagio (free), answer the call of the wild at the Lion Habitat at the MGM, see a Moulin Rouge-esque show at the Tropicana (Folies Bergere--tres expensive!), celebrity watch at the Palms, step back in time to the age of the Renaissance and watch a joust at the Excalibur.

If you're looking to have a good time without spending alot of $$, here are some tips that I have rec'd. I've never been myself, plan on going this winter. Can't really say what is good and what is bad, but the people I've talked with would recommend alot on this website list. It seems to be very beneficial if you're not just looking to sit in the casino the entire time too.

Drive up Highway 95 to Beatty, turn left toward Death Valley, and visit the old ghost mining town of Rhyolite, then go over into Death Valley. Very scenic and interesting. Also, you can't miss Hoover Dam (or is it Boulder?).

The water show outside the Bellagio! It is free and spectacular! It is different each time - or at least has many different ones in the cycle, so stick around a while.
