I'm taking my family on vacation this year to watch some MLB games. What are the best ways to go about meeting some players and getting autographs? Also, how early do they open the ballpark to watch batting practice and things like that?

I should also mention that we are going to Dodger Stadium and the Angels Stadium

At Angels stadium you can get there 90 minutes to game time, at the third base side by the dugout you can bet on getting Tim Salmons autograph, Adam Kennedy signs a lot and sometimes Jose Molina at the bullpen area. Chone figgins, and Dallas McPherson will if playing. Vlad , Anderson and Cabrera never sign. Good LUck and Have Fun!!!!!!! Say Hi to my Halos!

Ok, please do not listen to the person that told you parks open 5 hours before game time. Parks vary in opening time, and usually they open 1 hr to 2 hrs before game time. Batting practice for the home team is never seen by the fans. This is unfortunate, but you do get to see the other team light up the baseball. In terms of autographs, you need to be on the side line past the dugout towards the outfield. I say this because here pitchers will come and warm up, as well as players that might be stretching and what not. After they warm up, they usually go over to give autographs. Above the dugout is the worst position, always be to the sides. During batting practice, left field is the best location for foul balls. There are more righties than lefties and they are way ahead of the pitches. Check the official team websites and call their box office in order to know what time they will officially open at. This is your best bet at meeting the players and getting a souvenir for the kids.

At dodgers stadium, if you get there about an hour before the game starts, you can go up to the baseline seats near the dugout and players usually give autographs there. Thats the way i got Eric Gagne's autograph.

I think the ballpark opens at least 5 or more hours prior to the game. I recently went to a Red Sox game at Fenway park. The best thing to do is go EARLY!!! Usually players set aside time for autographes. What we did was sat on top of the home team dugout and the players will come to you. Surprisingly not too many people. If they don't see you, throw you item too them, although it sounds unorthodox, it works, my friend threw a hat and ball at David Ortiz who signed both and threw them back. Hope this advice assisted you!

go to Houston - Minute Maid park is beautiful and opens plenty early to go and get a few autographs. Brad Ausmus is good about signing as well as Biggio, Oswalt, Petite and Burke. Give it a try. Go stros!
