It's human nature. But we can teach ourselves to look beyond the superficial and learn to appreciate, love and accept people for who they truly are inside. The "media standard" of beauty has created a stereotypical attractive package. There is so much disperity in treatment based on how you look, and it is absolutely dead wrong.

Sure there is a whole lot more to us that looks. However, looks are the first impression we get of one another. Therefore, a lot of attention is give to appearances. Hopefully, it doesn't stop there. Hopefully, attention can be give to what's on the inside.

While appearances can affect emotions both positively and negatively, I think that it is just chimerical exploitation to judge appearances. More clothing and beauty items can be sold if people become obsessed with appearances.

Because society as a whole is so superficial. They don't have the TIME to stop and find out what people are really like on the inside.
Most people still think that clothes make the man. The money makes some better than others. Guess what it is not true.

I agree. Some people are only attracted to looks. I mean would you want to marry or date someone who is good looking but has no personality whatsoever? Not me! To me, it's about having a good personality, someone who's interesting not just good looking. People are shallow like that. MTV is pretty lame anyways. I mean do you ever see a larger girls dancing in music videos? Not often.

There is, and having a fun and motivated personality supercedes anything. But looks give off a general idea of your lifestyle, and in some cases, how expensive you are to maintain.

Plus, how you percieve their personality and life can change with exposure. Looks rarely do. BTW, "Next" is the second stupidest date show EVER. Seems like contestants either are brutal, or are brutalized. Entertaining, perhaps. But not a good example to FOLLOW.

It's unfortunate. Men are more visually oriented than women and I personally "size" people up based on how they present themselves. My final impression often runs counter to this prejudice and I need to get past the physical and try to find the true character of people instead of judging them on superficial things--it' not going to be easy. There is much more to each one of us besides looks.

It's because that's all many people care about. I think that intelligence should be something people are judged on. Look at grammar and words of some of the questions that people have asked.

Unfortunately, appearance is the first thing we see, and first impressions stick with us. Morally not so good, but it's human nature. Sooooo, we need to present an appropraite image to the world, so that the first impression doesn't repel those with whom we wish to deal. In answer to your second part, YES! but you are fighting millenia of habit.

Actually one will be a fool to judge someone by his/her appearance.Don't believe that. One should know other from the heart. There is nothing in appearance-actually by beauty.eg:one will not get a day's meal by beauty he/she want to work hard.Believe in straight forward attitude.Believe one from heart not from eyes or ears.Don't believe every thing seen in tv.Don't be an addict to tv.

Well, i guess, as a guy, only thing a guy has to go up on is a girl's look. he knows nothing of her attitude so what attracts him is her looks. There is more but you must also know more
