For better or worse, Star Wars has changed movie making more than any other film ever has. But art is such a subjective concept - I would have to say Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movies are the greatest cinematic works of art. That's my personal oppinion.

ONG-BAK THE THAI WARRIOR starring Tony Jaa. Tony Jaa is a work of art. Tony's dedication and hard work is shown throughout this movie and therefore makes Ong-Bak my top choice for the greatest artistic achievement in cinema. No wires, no computer graphics, and no stunt doubles, that's Tony Jaa. With the way Tony moves I would recommend any of his movies. His Muay Thai fighting style is exquisite.

There are so many beautiful films. Two of my more recent favorites are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the New World. Both very gorgeous and artistic.

Everyone goes for 'CitizenKane', but I pick 'Psycho'. That shower scene was pivitol. Halfway through the movie the (kinda/sorta, hey, she stole from the bank) heroine gets killed, which had never happened before. We're following Marion Crane all this time, and then BAM!, we're set adrift with no idea where this movie's gonna turn next. At that moment all bets were off in cinema.
Also the way that scene was shot: We THINK we see the blade enter Marion, but if you pay attention it never does. We fill that part in ourselves. In a way that makes us as culpable as Norman Bates.

The Godfather Part 2. It just has so many great sequences. The actors are all at their best. The dialogue, set design, editing are all excellent. My favorite film.

Do The Right Thing because Spike Lee is a genius. All of his older stuff was deep and had a message. I love Spike Lee!
