People, there is nothing to think about. The rules state this is a backcourt violation. He left his feet in the frontcourt and landed in the backcourt to catch the ball. That is a violation.

Now he could have walked backcourt and then caught the ball, but that is not what happened. Thus it was a backcourt violation.

I'm not a Mavs fan per se, but they have gotten the shaft in 2 games in the series. Both ironically in Miami. Lost time??? Phantom call with 1.9 seconds left??? No backcourt violation??? A suspension on a foul that didn't match the damage of most of Shaq's fouls. And Shaq himself said it wasn't a big deal. Stackhouse gets cracked across the nose and nothing? Yes, nothing and thats the way both fouls should have been called!

The time-out - well I don't know about it since I didn't hear what was said...

This kind of crap has gone on for awhile in the NBA though, star players get "Star treatment" = bogus calls or no calls. It is nothing new. I really believe they work to make these big playoff series go 7 games. Bottom line it means much more money for the NBA. I think Mavs will get the calls in tonights game, so if they play decent it should go to game 7.

No, it was not a backcourt violation. Players are allowed to go in the backcourt these days after calling a timeout. The Heat had called a timeout and are allowed to move the ball from backcourt to front.

Yes. backcourt violations are determined where the player left off - and not where he caught or had possession of the ball. Therefore, he jumped while in the forecourt, then landed in the backcourt - that's a violation. The inbound pass could have been caught directly in the backcourt however, then there would not have been a violation.

It's blatant cheating. The referee simply chose to ignore the violation. Both feet must be down on the floor to establish position in the backcourt prior to receiving the pass. If you're in the air, you're still considered to be in the front court. The ref saw this and chose to ignore it. The NBA is a farce - not to be taken too seriously. It's slightly above the WWF.

Yes, there is no way that wasn't a backcourt violation. His foot was on his side of the court when he first touched the ball, then he jumped over to the other side. That means he has possession of the ball on each side of the court, which is backcourt. It doesn't matter how long he had the ball on either side, that is the way it goes.

I wouldn't, because you can pass the ball from out of bounds to the backcourt, and he was in the air as he was still in the front court, it's the same rule that applies to saving a ball that is going out of bounds. On a side note, the refs cheated Dallas on the timeout.

YES. Its amazing to that refs with eye sight good enough to see a foul on Wade that no one else saw in the last 2 seconds and then the eagle eyes it took to see Josh Howard signal that time-out (it was almost telepathic) but yet they can't make that call right in front of him. Its almost as if the refs are selective in the way they call the game.........Also on another note, Why can't ESPN replay the last second shot of Wade as many times as they ran the replay of Stackhouse hitting Shaq, They hyped that play up so much Stackhouse got suspended so why not replay the Wade shot so everyone can look and decide if he got fouled, It could be a big deal if ESPN wanted it to be.

I saw that play and that's exactly what I said: "Hey, that was backcourt!" I saw a few questionable calls in that game. I hope the officiating is better Tue.
