I lived over in South Korea for 5 years in a church and am married with 2 children. Earlier this year I was kidnapped, beaten, and they took my passport. I tried to come back to the U.S. with my 3 year old son afther that and was stopped by them. My wife is completely brainwashed and will not talk to me. I secretly left on my own 3 months ago and am back in the U.S. How can I get my family back without going back over there to live again?

I'm a U.S. citizen and so are my wife and 2 kids
I already contacted the U.S. embassy and that's how I got my passport back. Suprisingly the embassy has less power than I thought.
The Korean police won't do anything unless she wants to leave with the kids.
Unfortunately I have experienced a lot of racism over there so they usually ignore me and takes sides with their countrymen.

1) Pastor lying: Remember, all pastor's are only human. They are no more gifted than you. You must learn to take everything they say with a grain of salt. Don't simply believe anything just because he said it. 2) Is it a cult: The one best way to test whether you are involved in a cult or not is to appraise their foundational beliefs. If they believe in Jesus Christ, the crucifiction and resurrection and the blessed trinity, then they are a Christian religion. Any of the other stuff, washing feet, speaking in tongues, raising hands, healing people, all of it, is no more than ritual. You don't have to subscribe to any of that to be a true believer, none of it! "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." 3) Miracles: The power of a good speaker and a riled audience is almost enough on its own to get someone out of a wheel chair, but the effects will not be long lasting. Jesus does not have to perform public miracles today. He has given us his word, The Bible. Its like a new business opening up. They will have tremendous sales and specials all week long and will culminate in a huge open house. Then that business expects some of those deal seekers will become good, regular customers. Well, Jesus did that for the four or five years he was publically speaking, up to the crucifixtion. Now he expects his followers to have a little faith. 4) The pyramid: No matter how you structure it, the moneys the members of the church contribute are meant to go to the upkeep and maintenance of the worship building and the support of the pastor. This is how God intended to continue financing his business of spreading the gospel. It is the problem of your church elders if the money is spent unwisely on A/C rather than on missionary transportation. 5) One Last Thing: Everything you were told that you must do comes with good intent. Generally when a Christian religion advocates practices such as what you described, they are doing so to try to keep their people out of harm's way. None of those things are required for salvation though! Your salvation is entirely up to you. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.

If this is for real you need to go to the police or the goverment. If they took your passport and everything thing something isn't right. Think of you family, if you are just sitting here wondering what to do you are farther away of getting them back. Go to the goverment or police tell them what happened and where. They can contact someone over there and they can help.

Hopefully you aren't lying and just making up some story. If you aren't I feel sorry for you and hope you get back to your family and things turn out well. If you are lying then you are one sick ahole.

Send your family the money to come over here themselves on a plane and leave the stuff behind. Just bring themselves. I wish you the best and i am very sad that your wife is being brain washed. You will both need major help and counseling for this if you ever do get together. Call doctor Phil and he may be able to help you as well.

You don't have to go back over there to live- but you may have to go back there again. You should try contacting a lawyer - maybe an immigration lawyer and telling the lawyer your situation. Find out what you can do legally and then work on getting your family back.

Man that is crazy!! I don't know what to tell you. If your wife is that brainwashed forget about her, but you have to try to get your kid back, before he is raised like that. I am sure their is something that can be done, you just need to contact the right people if you know what I mean!!!!

I think you need to contact the US Embassy in South Korea and see if they can help you. I am sure you can't do this alone, and the US government can hopefully help get their citizens back home safely.
