If it's that bad, you should mention it. Maybe her fashion sense has take a vacation!
However she may really like it. Or maybe someone special gave it to her so its more than just a sweater to her.
Start by asking her about her new favorite piece of clothing. You might get some good insight before saying anything about it.

As a best friend, it is your responsibility to correct this gross error in fashion sense. I'm guessing if you were making the tacky statement, you'd want someone to tell you, too. Be a BFF and tell her.

Hard question....a matter of taste (or lack thereof, most likely)...I think that if she had any doubts about the sweater she would ask you if it looked okay. I am afraid you are going to have to wait until that day if it ever comes and then gently voice your opinion. It is either that or potentially ruin the friendship. GOOD LUCK!!

Tell her that you think it is meant to be lounge wear, and should only be worn around the house. You should tell her in a polite way when she or someone else brings it up, that way she knows that you haven't been practicing it infront of your bathroom mirror for the past few days! Good Luck! :)

would you tell her if she had food in her teeth? If the answer is 'yes," then you should tell her her sweater is ugly. Friends shouldn't let friends commit crimes of fashion, or publicly embarrass themselves in any way.

Yes...but do it in a way that doesn't hurt her feelings. Just tell her you don't like it and you suggest that she never wear it again!

No. Why do you care? You must have a small sad life if you bother yourself with your friend's choice of clothing.

Maybe... for his own good... but be nice about it... and subtle if possible. Maybe compliment another shirt he owns to encourage him to expand his clothing repetoire.
