Why not adopt an elephant at your local Humane Society or SPCA. You find them in the Large Animal section, near the Guinea Pigs.

Elephant make good pets, but people give them up because they tend to take up the whole bed.
People should really think and do their research before buying an elephant.

The civil service have done it.

A while ago some clerk got the idea that no-one really checked the purchases he was making. So he put a request for a "twenty horsepower pachyderm with two metres of flexible trunking" into the system. The order was duly signed off.

At any good elephant breeder. You will need an extra large house to keep her in and a big shovel to clean up the poop!

Any good pet shop will sell you a good quality elephant but due to the size you'll have to go to one of the larger out-of-town pet supermarkets. (unless your after a smaller bonsai elephant)

Please don't.

Even if you can find a place.

Elephants have been nearly hunted to extinction for their tusks and for the pleasure of safari hunters.

The ones that do come in contact with humans end up in zoos, circuses, or doing heavy labor. All completely isolated from their herd, habitat and family and made to perform for the amusement of another, arguably less noble, species.

The ones that are left in the wild deserve to stay there and the ones we've taken deserve to go home.

Depends on what type of ellie you want. For Indian elephants try India or African ellies try South Africa. They do sell off "surplus" stock of wild animals to game farms.

you could sponser one at your local zoo and that way you can tell everyone you have an elephant but not need to clean up after it....or feed it....or entertain it....or walk it?... you could just go and visit it and if you sponser it with alot of money they might even let you pet the thing lol

it would be cruel to have one elephant so you would have to buy two.

Try 'borrowing' a pair from your local safari park but watch out for the lions & tigers as you sneak them out in the dark
