first the dixie chicks went to London and bad mouthed the President of the U.S.of A. Gorge W. Bush then some of their fan didn't like the fact that the d cs were bad mouthing Bush so than the d cs started verbally attaching the fans that didn't agree with with them about Bush and the d cs are bad mouthing other country singers that don't agree with them.it looks like the d cs have forgot who bought all of their CD s and made them successful and have made them multi millionaires.

The statements about the president are old news here is her most recent addition of fuel to the fire from England yet again.
Maines is testing Americans again by questioning patriotism in British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. She says, "The entire country (US) may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? "You can like where you live and like your life, but, as for loving the whole country... I don't see why people care about patriotism."
She has also criticized fans and stated that patriotism displayed in country music videos sickens her.
Frankly I don't really care what Natalie Maines thinks about the war, the country, the president, or anything else for that matter. She is an American and has the right to free speech. However rights work both ways. Natalie has the right to spout whatever crap she wants, but the people who have to listen to it also have the right to say we are not going to buy your product or support your career. What really annoys me is the people who scream about the right to free speech, then complain when other people express free speech in the other direction. It's very simple you have the right to your opinion and I have the right to mine, but if I don't like your opinion I also have the right not to buy your product. If enough of us don't buy your product you go bankrupt. As for radio stations not playing the Dixie Chick music, well that just market forces ar work. They are going to give the people what they want, so long as those people represent a majority. That is just the way it works in real life gang.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines was singing a new tune late Friday, this time in the form of an apology to President Bush for saying she was ashamed that he was from Texas.
"As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect," Maines said in her latest statement.
Her comments deriding the president this week have sparked outrage among some country music fans, with some stations boycotting the Grammy-winning group's songs. In a poll on Atlanta, Georgia's KICKS 101.5, 76 percent of its listeners responded with "If I could, I'd take my CDs back."
Maines issued a statement earlier that fell short of offering an apology. In her latest statement, even as the lead singer extended an olive branch, she expressed reservations about a war with Iraq.
"We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American," Maines said.
In a concert in London, England, this week, Maines told the crowd: "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
The group hails from Texas.
The Dixie Chicks kick off a three-month U.S. tour May 1 in Greenville, South Carolina.
BTW: note from me:all their CD's that people burned in piles,,,,, had to be purchased $$ heard on interview on Fresh Air, NPR

Well Natalie made a few comments about Mr. President Bush that a lot of people didn't agree with. So they went in hiding for 3 years. Alot of the country music stations are just now slowly beginning to play there music again.

And after all that's declared and performed no human being performs thier video clips or music in the US. It replaced into the yankee Grammies undergo in thoughts. How about Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts who both offered many better cases than the Dixie Chicks did. They were the massive type 2 and three albums in style of revenues in 2006 in reality beaten by ability of "highschoo musical" a disney soundtrack. I dont care about their politics, i'm surprised that a collection it quite is an "also ran" in revenues and value ticket revenues is the "large winner". wager that's merely better info of the farce we call the "Grammies". lengthy stay Milli Vanilli

Everything stemmed from Nathalie Maines (lead singer) saying she was ashamed to be from texas where the president is from..BUT...did u also know that President Bush sent the Dixie Chics a letter telling them to stick to singing, and if they did not keep there mouths shut, their singing careers would be over....

They said...
In an interview with UK's Telegraph newspaper, Robison accused some country artists of jumping on the anti-Chicks bandwagon to further their own careers. She said, "A lot of artists cashed in on being against what we said or what we stood for because that was promoting their career, which was a horrible thing to do. A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."
Maines continued, "The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country... I don't see why people care about patriotism."
Can'y give up can they?

It stems from the comments Natalie made about President Bush and the war. She spoke out against it, and there was a lot of backlash. Toby Keith and a few others were particularly vocal about it. That's where the song came from.

Well besides the Bush Comment.. they have made several comments about country music listeners saying they dont need country music. even though it made them rich. They say patrotism is stupid, even though they enjoy the security and freedom in our country.. then finally they say they would rather have a FEW devoted fans than alot of listeners that "dont get them". Plus they say they dont want to be in the same CD changer with Reba and Toby Keith. looks like they are getting their wish.

Um, they bashed our President and his decison of war. Although many do not have to agree with the decision of war, they should support our President, and the Dixie Chicks didn't. They just sat back and talked crap.

People have still not gotten over Natalie Maines's comment about being ashamed of being from same state that Bush is from, Texas.
It's funny; their album has been #1 for two weeks, but no one's lining up to buy tickets to their shows.
