Both of them played at 924 Gilman even though O.P.I.V. was one of the 1st bands playing there. Both are very influential. But which has better music overall?

I'd have to say Operation Ivy by a long shot for me, but it depends on your preferences. Operation Ivy is almost an acquired taste and most people love them (me) or just don't care for them. They have a much faster harder hitting sound, whereas Green Day is more like pop punk (and although most pseudo-punks will think I mean that as an insult but I don't, it's just a different genre, and not always a bad one). Green Day's older music was good but not Operation Ivy good. Although I admit I'm a little prejudiced because I love Operation Ivy so much.

There will be lots of answers to this, but here's the correct answer...

Since OP Ivy and Green Day are tight knit bands, both of them would compliment each other's music. While Green Day got the acclaim, money and success, OP Ivy still remains one of Green Day's favorite bands and is the father.
Is there a BETTER one? I guess that's up to you.
