my new job is making me pick between this two options and I'm not really knowledgeable about computers. Part of my job is making presentations for business owners, so portability is important.

Definitely the tablet, if you get a convertible. I have a convertible tablet from Gateway and it's amazing. It's nice for quick notes to jot down, and you can also search your handwritten notes with the usual Find tool in MS OneNote and Windows Journal.

If you need to use it as a regular laptop, just spin the screen around and you have your touchpad and keyboard. It's really worth getting it. You have just that many more options available to you for a price tag that is not very beefy at all.

Portability being important, I would suggest a laptop. Tablet PCs are very intuitive and are getting better, but at this point in time they are not capable of the same sort of power that Laptops are. There are a select few laptops that can convert into tablet PC's, those may be an option to you. Otherwise, if those aren't, stick with a laptop.

Laptop. Generally more powerful than the tablet and easier to lug around. Most tablets now are nothing more than a notebook with a swivel screen, in that respect pick a hybrid if available.

Since presentation is a key factor. Pick the Tablet PC

With a Tablet PC you can do everything a Laptop can do, plus more, like interactive touch screen, hold it with one hand....

But, just in case you pick a laptop, try to see if they can give one with rotating screen. :-)

Well, Good luck.

Well a tablet PC does everything a laptop can, except it adds the ability of using handwriting recognition. That's why they're tweice as expensive. I'd say go with the tablet, unless it's much heavier. I've never used one.

do you like playing the games ...??? no ?
so go and have a tablet .. cause a tbletpc is really more portable than any notebook ( in same price and even with 200$ expensiver laptops)

Today's tablet PCs now come with a keyboard hidden underneath the screen, so there is no real decision here. The tablet can do it all.

I think laptop would be excellent. If you are doing presentations, you can carry it with you from place to place and have all your information there with you :) And if you have to do work while you're at home, you can chill on your couch or in bed and watch tv while you're working as well :) Definitely great to multitask!
