you could be. Women usually ovulate at the same time every cycle, but then again once in a while you dont, some women can even ovulate ON their period.
Your best bet is to be responsible and not have sex, or atleast have a fail proof protection plan. A child has no choice about being born, but you have every choice about creating it.
The people who tell you day 14 dont understand how the number is found. its an average based on a 28 day constant cycle. Not everyone has a 28 day cycle, or a regular cycle. Poor diet, exercise, the lack there of, stress, anything can change how and when your body cycles and ovulates.
I ovulate on day 23 of my cycle, but i got pregnant on a fluke ovulation on day 9. Womens bodies dont cycle like the tide.

Your cycle starts on the first day of your period and goes untill the start of your next period. if you have a 28 day cycle then you will usually start ovulating around the 14th day, and ovulation will last usually 4 days. If you had your period say for 5 days, and had sex 2 days after that, then you had sex on the 7th day of your cycle - 7 days before ovulation. Sperm can live for up to six days after intercourse. So there's probably not much chance of being pregnant. Just as a side note, I'd like to tell you that it's always safest to have sex AFTER ovulation.

I disagree with the first responder. My husband and I use the rhythm method and our rule is:
Start of Period + 7 days = safe
Next 14 days = not safe particularly days 5-9 (the most fertile is the middle of this 14 day period)
Next 7 days (last week before period comes) = some say is safe, I think not.
I use some other kind of protection after the first 7 days after my period (but until then not at all) I think you are pretty safe unless your cycle is very different from mine.

You can get pregnant any day of the month.
Do some research on ovulation cycles and start tracking your period, if you are going to use the rhythm method for birth control. And know that the % rate of getting pregnant using the rhythm method is much higher than other methods. You BEST bet is to use a condom - which is the only way to protect yourself from STDs as well.

I did...Based on my first 3 pregnancies I knew if we had sex within 4 days of ending my period we would get pregnant...so we did all four days and sure enough I got pregnant...Not sure if this will happen to you cause everyone is different but it does happen.

Yes. Sperm can live several days "in there" so watch out.
I see you're getting conflicting information. Lets just say that the catholic church advised women to use the "rythym method" (based on timing of the period) and they have LARGE families ok??

You could, always use protection not only against pregnancy but to help guard against the many STD's that are out there and remember only abstinence is 100% effective the other methods may say they are but there are too many variables as to their effectiveness.....just be careful no matter what you choose to use.

If you do not want to be pregnant, always use protection. You technically could get pregnant anytime, all women are a little different, though you are more likely able to get pregnant shortly after menstration.
