1) get a crossover cable cable, not a patch cable.
2) connect the cable to each PC's network interface
3) start each system and when fully operational assign each an IP address: 10.10.1.1 and 10.10.1.2
4) Map a drive from the machine that will be doing the copying to the one that will be copied from in the following format \\machinename\driveletter$ (the dollar sign indicates the administrative share and will allow you access to the entire drive.
5) copy away.

You should get a USB sync cable. It will come with included software to help you share files.

Another method would be set up a local network (wireless would probably be easiest) and share files that way.

3rd method, thumbdrives and rewritable cds can also do the job for you.

Hi,

You can go for the option which I use. Its very fast for data transfers (between any two devices, be it either PCs or Laptops).
Go to any hardware vendor and get a Cross over ethernet cable.
Then configure Manual IP Addresses on your PC and Laptop and there you go. Share which ever folder you like. To open shared folders on the other PC/Laptop, you just need to Click Start -> Run -> \\IPADDRESSOFOTHERCOMPUTER. example "\\192.168.1.1"

This option is economical as well.
All the Best!

Some links which guide you on the same:
