Yup, It's Jay and the Americians. I'm in an oldies band with my Pops and we play this song. It rocks!

That is Jay & The Americans with Jay Black as lead singer. I love that song and I have most of their 60's hits. If somebody redid it I don't know or care. Theres nothin like the original!
