There will never again be anything that can compare to the Beatles. You have to understand something. Every day, EVERY day there was something about them in the papers. Their records were bought before they were out on the shelves! I was 15 when they exploded on the scene. They were the first band in which each member was condidered a starr. ( A little Ringo humor.) Their songs were analized by legends in the field of music, as well as other fields of study. They were so popular, that if you didn't have a Bristish accent back then , you had less chance of stardom. I saw their concert in 1964. You could Not hear their voices or instruments. The crowd, 8,500 strong, the largest that they had ever seen, could not stop screaming. I for one, just recently recovered from a 42 year sore throat!! (joke) No one could get enough of them. News reporters hung on to every word they said. Their sense of humor was fantastic and their talent, unmatched by anyone else. Believe me when I say this....There never was anything like them and there never will be again. Listen to the harmony on "Nowhere Man," "This Boy," "If I Fell,"and countless others. Listen to the beauty of "Here , There and Everywhere." Listen to Paul's bass on "Something," especially during the middle part of the song when there is no singing. The Beatles were incredible musicians but they were so much more than that. They were almost prophets. They were copied by everyone...from their hair to their music to their clothes , even to what they personally believed in. Simply put, they were a once in a lifetime experience that I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL, FOR. To have been a teenager back then , was fantastic. I'm so glad that I was there to experience this wonderful, happy event.

Best Band Ever. 1)They wrote their own songs (they really did, rather than have producers and ghosts write them for them); 2)they played ALL their own instruments; 3)they were the first musical act known worldwide; 4)they had ALBUMS full of great material (now, an artist puts out an album, has one good song in it and the rest is garbage - virtually every Beatles song is a well crafted piece of art); 5)they had the two best song writers of their era (John Lennon and Paul McCartney) as founding, permanent members of the band; 6)they changed the way songs are recorded, and what type of songs may be recorded, for the entire industry (listen to "Eleanor Rigby", prior to the Beatles, nothing like that {the sadness/despair/string quartet) had ever been recorded in the "pop music" genre; 7)they made 3 ground breaking films ("Hard Days Night" created the entire MTV industry; "Yellow Submarine", a first full length animated film; "Let It Be", 1st popular rock documentary - where do you think Metallica got the idea from?); 8)they had two of the greatest rock vocalists of all time (John and Paul - Elton John calls Paul's voice "the most beautiful musical instrument in Rock".).
... and in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love ...
... you make ...

Absolutely. They are the greatest band of all time. No contest. Nearly everything you hear in popular music today, The Beatles did it first. This includes: Feedback (I Feel Fine, 1964), Playing music backwards (Rain, 1965), Use of a sitar (Norweigan Wood, 1965), MUSIC VIDEOS! (Day Tripper, 1965), Techno beats (Tomorrow Never Knows, 1966), Use of an orchestra (A Day in the Life, 1967), Scratching a record (Strawberry Fields Forever, 1967) etc., etc.
Here are three songs that anyone who doesn't think The Beatles are the greatest band of all time should listen to (and the album they're on):
Run For Your Life (Rubber Soul)-Creepy. He really wants to kill his girlfriend.
You Know My Name (Past Masters Vol.2)-Not sure how this song ever made it to vinyl, but you'll swear it's not The Beatles.
Revolution 9 (White Album)-Undescribable. You just have to hear it.

The Beatles were the greatest rock and roll band ever. In the History of Rock, you would be hard pressed to find a band that had as wide appeal.

Before the Beatles, there were nothing from greasy singers. the Beatles were different. They wrote AND performed their songs. In the good old days, there were songwriters, and other performers sang them. Their sound was different, and so was their look....AND they progressed....they actually changed their sound. Their first LP "Please Please Me" sounds very different from their last LP "Abbey Road." They all had big success after they split up in 1970. They all had #1 singles and LP's after they split up. The Beatles have had 6 #1 albums AFTER they broke up. There'll never be another Beatles.
