I would like to explore maybe being an online counselor. I live in the state of Illinois. I just graduated with my M.A. in Counseling, and I have my NCC, and will soon have my LPC. Is there a way I can work at home, and get supervison independantly..so I can eventually qualify to get my LCPC? I am unsure about the process.

I live in WI-hi neighbor
I would think you could check into that w/the state licensing board. I won't say which hospital facility in WI is trying to MAKE EAP counselor's do phone and/or OL intakes but it's a moving topic. This was a major debate pretty much throughout my grad studies, I'd be interested to know if in fact IL is doing counseling in this way.

online counseling kind of defeats the purpose. as a counselor you're supposed to create a bond with your clients and be there for them in comfort. how can you do that over the internet? I would assume you could do it but don't expect to get many clients beating down your IM screen.
