Classic is so much better.

Led Zeppelin
The Who
Pink Floyd
Black Sabbath
Neil Young
Bob Dylan
Eric Clapton
Beatles
Yardbirds
Rolling Stones
The Doors
Jimi Hendrix
Velvet Uderground
Cream
Beach Boys
King Crimson

Can you name even a few artists today that match up to those, excluding late 80's-90's greats Pearl Jam, Guns N' Roses, Soundgraden, Tool, White Stripes, Alice in Chains, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins?

Classic Rock is way better than today's music because it's a lot simpler and easy to listen to and you don't realize that you have it on most of the time because the rhythms are simple enough that whenever I listen to it, I can do something else at the same time and with today's music, you probably won't remember what the meaning of the songs out today are in 20 years, whereas the music out 20 years ago, you can understand the meaning of the song. I listen to classic rock 24/7/365 and I'm only 20.

You ask a very good question.
And I believe there are merits in both classic and modern (i.e., today's) rock.

Ten, twenty years from now, tomorrow's youth might pose the same question and you might see the same results.

Personally, I find that my money is spent on older (pre 1980) music, either from iTunes or the whole CD, on artists that earned their chops in the 1960's & '70's.

But that's not to say there aren't a lot of great musicians out there today.
I suspect the way radio is fractured, many of us don't HEAR some of the great new stuff out there so we tend to cling to the past.
And while there is nothing wrong with that, I feel for the new artists trying to get a fair shake at fame.

Web-based radio (like KEXP) play a lot of excellent old AND new music.
I've learned a lot about today's rock artists from stations like KEXP...and the playlist keeps things fresh AND familiar.

Bottom line: I believe ALL rock is best.
I just wish the industry had a better way of getting the music out without alienating the listeners!
