This is an awesome question. I see what you mean by the tactics. Iran is surrounded. I think it may have been just dumb luck though.

Iran has had a lot of problems in the last century, even by Middle Eastern standards. It's been an economic satellite of the United Kingdom, seen civil rights given and taken away like waves on a beach, had the living crap kicked out of it in a war against Iraq, and been made the poster child for all that is wrong with Islamicism by the whole Western world. Add to this the fact that the United States has clearly made Iran next on their hit list and that they're surrounded by countries ruled by Sunni Arabs, who are treating their Shiite brethren so kindly in Iraq right now. If all these don't make a good enough case for developing nuclear deterrence, I don't know what would.

We need to nuke them back into the stoneage they are threatening the excistance of the world and need to be cut out like a cancer if they want to threaten.North Korea also If we had leaders with any guts it would be done.Kennedy took no crap he would have said cut the crap or eat a nuke. No chance to build any more and it would save a lot of lives.

why does it matter if they are surrounded or not... this isn't the the roman empire... if our target was Iran we should have just hit them in the first place... with modern technology, it doesn't matter if they are surrounded or not... they don't seem to care that they are surrounded? And we don't have the troops to do anything to them, because we are too busy trying to stabilize the "surrounding" countries...
