A-Lister you pose the best question I have read here. My opinion is that people who are racist just hate. When tragedy hits and it comes down to me or thee, WE are in this together and hate goes out the window, at least for a moment. I wish in times where there is no disaster we could all remember we share the same DNA. Truth is that most of us aren't WHITE at all. I am of American Indian decent and look like a funeral lilly, where is the fair in that? My brother is dark as caramel so go figure. The most racist are the ones with the most to fear of being mixed! LOL. The solution is to just go ahead and pray for those who wrongfully persecute you and let karma do the rest. They will one day see the error of the racist way. Kind of like Hitler did. Live well and know not all crackers are racist. LOVES :} nana

Because it's really not that huge a problem.
There is no secret to defeating it. Just don't think of yourself or anyone else as being a "color." Think of them as "people." Just don't use special vocabulary and grammar when speaking to some people, and a different vocabulary and grammar when speaking to other people. Just don't.
We only worry about racism when things are going pretty well, otherwise. Like we only sweat the dirty dishes in the sink when the roof is not caving in.
Priorities.

The fact of the matter is that racism is NOT a huge problem, and is only made so when certain groups insist on being victims.

Racism is not a HUGE problem. Only certain minority groups focus, incessantly, on racial differences.
When tragedy hits, they just know its because of their race.

Depends on your perspective. I don't necessarily think that's true in all situations. I think the best example of that right now in our society is local news coverage of missing persons. Argue all you want, but history shows us that a missing white girl gets more coverage than a missing black girl. Argue all you want, but that's the truth. How that could be construed as something other than racism is beyond me.
