I notice that in books, there are two types of endings. One is the happy ending, where the characters live and prosper, and never worry again. Another is where all the main characters die. Both are good ways to prevent making a sequel (have you seen an Old Yeller 2? Or Romeo and Juliet 2? Didn't think so) So a good way to end suprisingly is to end it like life would be. Where you win some, you lose some, and justice might slightly prevail, but not completly.

I think the biggest surprise would be if it had no specific end - the kind of books that leave the reader still guessing even after finishing the whole book.

The biggest surprise would be to find out at the end that the book is actually about you, and as you read the last page it accurately describes where you're sitting and what you're wearing and what's on the table beside you as you read it.

I study a narrative one time that ended "John wakened secure in mattress. It became in undemanding words a dream." I set fireplace to the e book and refuse to study some thing from that author ever back. that is a cheap meaningless ending. One my favourite wonder endings is a from a short tale. The putting is an fairly darkish room and no that is common to work out the others obviously. The ending revealed that between the numerous personality were useless by the completed tale. each body idea she became indignant and giving them the silent remedy.

The end of One Hundred Years of Solitude was unbelievable. I flipped the book right over and started reading again from the beginning. I won't be specific, because that would give it away and you should really read it to get the impact of the ending uncompromised by me.

I read a book one time where the main character thought that all of this weird stuff was happening to her, and it was, but in the end of the book she ended up not being the main character. She was actually a character that was being created and everything in her life was a lie. It was pretty good. But something like that is always trippy, when you become convinced that something is going this way and then all of a sudden something else happens to change the entire way you thought of the story, like in Fight Club. Try to do something like that! Let me know when it comes out! Good Luck!

I would think that the main character dies a tragic death. Maybe not, maybe the main character gets mauled by a swarm of bees while he is sitting on top of a 50 story building, he fights them off but the one, only one bee stings him in his eye and he slips off of the roof. Now, isn't that interesting?
