If your caloric intake is less than your expenditure, you will lose weight.
Exercise is more important that counting calories for a number of reasons. Get out, walk, run, swim, play with your kid, your dog, your friends. Do stuff.
Some foods are stored more easily than others. Starches (being rather complex) are harder to break down and the body tends to store the energy more readily. Proteins convert readily, and are burned quickly. So if you concentrate on veggies and meat and stay away from starches and roots, you will find it easier to lose weight.
But the key is getting exercise. There is no magic formula ... just log off the internet, get off your tookas and do something.

You shouldn't be losing weight at your age. You're still growing. ;)
But... 500 less calories than you already intake. If you eat 1200 calories a day... eat only 700. In 7 days you'll have lost 1 lb or so.

First of all, stop worrying, you're not fat. Your weight is normal.
Since your body is growing I would suggest roughly 2000- 2500 calories each day, depending on how much you exercise.
The food guide pyramid website has personal food pyramids based on your age and calorie needs.

a woman weither they teenager or adult should have around 1,500 calories aday.as to losing weight most slimming clubs recommend losing 2 pounds a wk which is the sensible way of doing it.but ur weight is ok so why the need to diet your not over weight.the problem these days is that we see models looking way to thin and teenagers wanting to look too thin.so they skip meals make themself sick in order to look thin,as long as your eating healthy drink water ,eating a sensible meal and eating fruit you be ok,its the snacking inbetween thats the problem.

Sweetie, it really doesn't sound like you need to lose any weight. But, if you really want to, increase your water intake and try to stay away from white breads and fried foods. Don't forget to exercise, too. It absolutely is key. I think that your caloric intake is probably pretty good because your stats don't infer that you are overweight.

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

Dear, at that age and weight, I do not think you need to worry about your weight. but, if you wish, if one wants to lose weight, they simply use more calories than they consume and exercise. Please consider again if you really want to do this.
