Because it's fun and it makes people feel good that other people care that they got hurt. Children think that way, anyway. It's like a long-lasting get well card.

b.c if you are going to be stuck with that miserable pile of plaster on your body for months on end it's best to at least personalize it some. having people sign your casts at least put a little bit of you into it.. trust me, when you're stuck sitting on your rear with a cast up to your butt from your toe..the little things amuse you..so having an autographed cast is at least a little sunshine on a gloomy day

Well it is kind of a helpless feeling to be in a cast.............so they tell the story of how they got a broken whatever and then say want to sign my cast everyone wants to feel good about themselves and I guess it shows the other people how many friends they have..............When you break a arm or leg it makes you feel kind of helpless and all those names signed builds you up................................................

it is like having peoples autographs or counting all your birthday cards
so while you are suffering, all those people are signing to show they care . Now that's nice
some are quite artistic and do graffiti all over it LOL
