Wow! So, are we not allowed to be excited about what is quite possibly the best team we've ever had?
I have no illusions about how our team matches up to the rest of the world but they are still my team and I'll support them and cheer just as loudly when they are losing as when they are winning. I can't stand fair-weather fans who only support their team when they are winning.
And, you are right, America needs to make some major changes to its soccer program if we want to be competitive with the rest of the world. I believe that it will happen and that it is happening right now. MLS is on the rise and as soon as it's popularity increases enough that the salaries become more respectable there is no reason we can't have the best team in the world. Look at the talent playing American Football, Basketball and Baseball? If the young talent in this country chose soccer over our more "traditional" sports there is no reason we couldn't dominate.

I think so. All the publicity is giving false hope to many americans at home. The u.s don't really care about winning the world cup, because soccer is not a popular sport in the U,S. They just want to be known in the public that they too can play soccer (not true) I think their first game agains the czechs proved to us that they are not ready to take soccer as one of their sports.

As an American, I've never thought or said that the US team is going to win. However, I am excited that they have gotten as far as they have. It's exciting when the team doesn't lose. I cheer for them because I think they are improving a bit. Go team!

Yeah well, soccer is played by little girls in America... hence, "soccer moms." Maybe if the rest of the world learn to play basketball, baseball and the real football, then America wouldn't have to play with a bunch of sissies kicking a harmless ball.

I don't think They are. I think that everyone is starting to realize that the Americans can compete at a national level and it scares them do to the fact that football is not a very big sport here, but it is growing and growing fast.

ok, answer me this question. if you team was only "an average team at best," would you still be there screaming your head off in support of them? the youth problems will fix themselves as the popularity of the sport in the US increases.

Maybe, but I think you and many people seem to be obsessed with Americans. That is why Americans are arrogant because people like you are obsessed with everything they do. Why do you care if Americans are getting carried away or not?

WE"RE the ones getting carried away? we don't really give a sh*t about soccer, so how are we getting carried away? you europeans are the ones inciting riots, starting fires in the stands and slinging racial slurs at opposing teams players. all over a boring, simple, sissy sport.

yes that whole "alter ego I didn't know exists" thing. As soon as lady gaga came along Rhianna COMPLETELY changed her music... its nothing like it used to be. Then Nicki Minaj came... fortenetly it takes constent creativity to remain famous so soon we will see a bunch of these people go.
