Bagpipe music. Makes the poor buggers crazy. That or their continual frustration in the World Cup. Possibly a combination of those two factors

It is probably something to do with the climate (mostly dreary) and a long history of feeling hard done by. Also, Scottish people don't all like Scotland. That is why so many of them leave their native land and live somewhere (anywhere) else. I have lived and worked in the Middle East as well as living and working in London and both places are awash with Scottish folk. They simply can't wait to leave Edinburgh, Glasgow, Abedeen etc etc and spend a lot time far away enough for it to be difficult to get home except on New Year's Eve. Then they moan like hell unless they can go back "home" for all their traditional festivities. And sometimes you really cannot figure out what they are saying. It may be a nice accent but it can be completely unintelligble. Even that Alan Hanson (is that right??) is hard to understand and BBC 1 should have sub-titles. And who actually likes Gordon Brown????

I've met a lot of Scottish people that have a dry sense of humour. Maybe you didn't understand them. Also they don't suffer fools lightly so if they didn't like you, they would probably let you know.
This is not true of all Scots though, can't generalise. However if your American that might have something to do with it, as most Brits don't like ya, actually neither does most of Europe, mmm...Perhaps the whole world are against you!!
I'm English and find it funny that we nearly all love the Scots and they hate us! We embrace their culture, and wear kilts to get married in even though we are like one tenth Scottish.

How did you ever manage to meet all the bad Scottish people and none of the good ones? Maybe you are mixing with the bad people on principle?
There are plenty of great Scots, and some very strange ones as well. But that is the case with every nation on Earth.

They're not. Like all nations there are good and bad in all of them.
It's like saying all Americans are dumb, whilst I've met many dumb Americans I've also met some who are quite intelligent.
Anyone who rises to your bait needs a good slap, the best way to answer people like you is with using sense and reason, ideals that you probably have no idea about.
A better question might be, why are all Cockneys a complete bunch of morons, who all act like Grant Mitchell and have Barbara Windsor for a mom?

Do you keep a count of all the people you meet and their nationalities? or is it just Scottish people? That's actually quite a lot of Scottish people you've met! do you live in Scotland? I've met hardly any English people compared to that!

You think they are all W@@@@@S because you are English. The English hate the scots and the scots hate the English.
The scots hate us because they cant compete with us English when it comes to sport. Football,Cricket,Rugby.....etc. They know it, we know it and they hate us for it.
