You should be fine, but it's better to take your prenatal vitamin at night.. helps with absorption. I wouldn't take your iron with milk. Calcium does block the absorption of iron, so I would take your iron with either orange juice, or water. Vitamin C helps with iron absorption, so that's why you were told that. If you still want to take your prenatal in the morning, take your iron with lunch. That will give your prenatal time to be partly absorbed and will not block as much of the iron.

Take the additional iron with orange juice and still take your prenatal. The calcium in the prenatal will not have a large enough effect on the iron alone, there is some iron in your prenatal, plus your supplement so limit your calcium intake but not eliminate it.

I was anemic, too, during both my pregnancies. But I didn't want to take the iron supplements. I talked to my OB about it, and she said that i could try just eating more iron-rich foods, and that they'd recheck after a few weeks. If my levels were lower, then I'd take the iron. And if they were the same or better, good for me.
So I ate tons of iron-rich foods, and my levels stayed about the same.
But if your body will tolerate the extra iron, it's sure a lot easier to do it the pill way. If that's the case, then sure: just remember to take your regular prenatal at night, and your extra iron supplement in the morning.

Take your prenatal vitamins. They are essential for the folic acid, B vitamins as well as the iron. Also eat iron rich foods. Getting the iron from nature is always best.

All you need to do is eat healthy. You dont need those prenatal vitamins. Women have been having babies for thousands of years without them. Eat the recommended foods in the food pyramid and you will be fine.

You need to continue to take your prenatal unless you are getting very sick from it as well as your iron. The doctors wouldn't give you anything that would harm you or your baby.

you can take your iron at night. it was easier for me to keep it down since i went to sleep afterwards. also, eat high iron foods.... peanuts, raisins, prunes, spinach
DON'T eat ice or slushies. cold stuff actually keeps you from absorbing the iron as well.
