I recently watched a group of Holocaust survivors discussing the importance of telling the stories of the Holacaust and how as it stands, less and less of our youth know anything about it or that it ever even occured, That the world HAS FORGOTTEN and that the topic of discussion, or passing the knowledge on to our youth is becoming extinct.

With the way the world is going today and how we are in the "New World", how the future IS HERE. Our children more so than ever are disconnected to god and history and cultures etc etc. They are more stimulated at home with their video games and computers than in the 1950's school system of teaching. They just arent interested. And I mean now MORE SO THAN EVER. I fear that all the values and important lessons we have been taught and lived for decades and centuries will not exist. Will be forgotten and lost.

Are there still many young people you know who talk about their history and culture or the Holocaust or even the bible anymore?

Racist, how? To want to be sure the children today remember the history that when before them? Nothing racist about that. The Holocaust is one of the best known examples of attempted genocide (the killing of a group of people because of their race). There have been thousands of others over history (such as the American Indians, the fall of Saigon, Bosnia, Iraqi ) and will continue to happen in the future if we do not keep a spotlight shined on it every time and everywhere. Excellent question - and keep the history alive.

Um... you might want to sit down with a few books on grammar, my friend; your posting was very difficult to understand.

However, you are correct. As time goes on, the Holocaust is becoming more and more of a distant memory, and those who actually lived through those years are becoming increasingly rare. It is a historical event, now, so today's youth view it as something they just have to read about like any other history lesson. How incensed do most Americans get about the British tea tax or the Stamp Act? It's history, and even though it brought the forefathers of our nation into a revolutionary war and resulted in the birth of a new nation, the war for independance only means something to history buffs, history teachers, and east coast tour guides. People used to talk about where they were when Kennedy was assassinated, but the current generation wasn't even born yet, so it doesn't have the same emotional impact if they didn't experience the event itself. The same goes for the Holocaust: yes, it was a horrible thing to happen to a people, and we hope it never happens again, but it didn't happen to me or you, so what's the big deal? I dare say it's remembered and taught more clearly in the Jewish community, but in America at large, it's not as important, sorry to say.

hey girl, i know exactly what you mean! whats up with the world these days? it seems like everyone is trying to push God and Christianity out these days! i was talking to my youth pastor about it and he said that all we can do is pray about it and leave it up to God but what I'm trying to do is witness to people and it is something that you can do too. When you wear a christian t shirt-your witnessing and just try to go out n spread the word out to the lost. People everywhere think that a christian is just a goodie goodie and people who never do any thing wrong! that is not it Girl !! we can make a difference if we just try and i know we can!! i get out of my comfort zone when i go out and witness but you know what when i start i forget about everything and just go. People everywhere have forgotten their values and we can try to bring them back. WE CAN DO IT!!!! all ya gotta do is try!! pray and witness is all we can do and good luck with it I'm there with ya

Don't be stupid. Fundies will always cram the Bible down everyone's throats and school teachers will always cram the Holocaust down pupils' throats.
Soon 9-11 will be cramed down everyone's throats, too.
