We're in the Atlanta area and we're thinking Myrtle beach or the top of Florida somewhere. We will only have about 4 days and we're driving there so it needs to be fairly close...any suggestions for a not too crowded, not cheap but reasonable, fun place to go? Maybe a little off the beaten path? Thanks.

Medical and financial problems are to blame for the long period between vacations, and we have on occasion taken a long weekend. but nothing of substance for a very long time. Family considerations are the reasons for this one being as short as it is.

Holden Beach, NC, is about 40(ish) miles above Myrtle Beach. If you can find a house that isn't rented already, it's a beautiful beach for spending time together. There's a waterslide, miniature golf, and there are a few restaurants around. Plus you're within driving distance of Myrtle Beach or Wilmington, NC if you need more excitement. There's also Fort Fisher nearby, a civil war fort (with a museum) that also has one of the state aquariums. And there's a car ferry from Fort Fisher to Southport. My family has spent a lot of time at Holden Beach. We love it.

There is a winery/resort just north of Atlanta called Chateau Elan. They have a website. It is beautiful there. They have great packages for weekend stays and lots of little extras you can get. Another suggestion would be Tampa/Clearwater Florida. I think it is about a 7 hour drive from Atlanta. Clearwater Beach is beautiful and there are lots of fun things in Tampa. I recommend the aquarium there.

Myrtle Beach is great but filled with tourist, I would recommend Hilton Head or the beaches near Charleston (Folley Beach and Isle of Palms) if you're wanting to go to SC. As far as Florida, I would recommend Clearwater Beach, a beautiful beach near Tampa. Also, if you're willing to drive up to NC you should check out the Outer Banks, very beautiful and peaceful and nothing but beaches.

Uncle Wayne, Come on now. i've got executed roofing, A sq. of shingles will value you around $40 and a few pounds of roofing tacks yet another $3, it will take you around 2 hours to re-roof a sq. of shingles. Do em the two and end yer whining. LOL Brighest advantages, Raji the fairway Witch playstation , a sq. of shingles is a ten x 10 foot section. in case you're in user-friendly terms lacking some shingles, then a sq. ought to cover each and all of the wear plus in user-friendly terms a sprint around the broken section.

From Atlanta, I'd suggest heading to St. Simons Island or Jekyll Island in Southeastern Georgia. My neice lives in Atlanta, and she and her husband have gone there several times.

Maybe St. Augustine. I've been there and it is really nice. They have the Fountain of Youth, the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, and a Wax Museum.

Can you take a second vacation later this year? 10 years is a long time to go without one.
