No! Governments here have really tightened up requirements for drivers licenses... even native born Americans have to go through a lot of junk to even get their licenses renewed.

I'm not sure on the rules with that one. I know that when I went to Austria for a year, we had to get an International Drivers License so that we could drive while we were there. We got it at Triple A, and just had to show our own DLs and then fill out the paperwork. Check with your nearest DMV, perhaps online. With your tourist's visa, you get apply for an international license using the passport from whatever country you are from. Remember also, that you need insurance to drive in this country.

You can not get a drivers license unless you have a social security number. You can drive in this country for one year as long as you have with you your license from the country you came from and your passport.

No way. Cause you don't have a Social Security number. But if you want to rent a car, you could with an international driver's liscense from your country.

You have to get an international license. Call the Department of Motor vehicles in whatever state you are in now and ask them.

These days DMV hardly issue DL for short term Non immigrant visa holders.
