Tell her if she doesnt stop it , she will spend the rest of her life in misery and accomplish nothing. The man is gone and usually if they are they dont come back. Why bother ?
Tell her to take a vacation if she can to an exotic place. Meet new people. And point out that if he had cared for her he would have been there for her and would be even now. The fact that he is not shows that its futile to think over and over. One can spend years in bitterness and depression if she does not end the obsession.
TELL HER TO THINK OF THE BAD THINGS NOT THE GOOD THINGS ABOUT THAT PAST RELATION. Tell her to write what he did to her good and bad and balance out what bad he did against good. That way she may see its not worth it to keep at it.
And, a new nail pushes out an old one. TRY A NEW GUY! And go out and have fun. TELL HER THE GUY DUMPED HER IF HE DID, WHAT ELSE? She will loose energy and health doing what she is.
Take it from someone who had an incredible love for a man who never delivered his promises and finally caught him with another woman and their child. MAYBE THE GUY HAS ANOTHER WOMAN ALREADY. Is that fair for her? and still drown i nher sorrows? i dont think its worth one more minute of her heart and time.

Get Caller ID so you don't have to take her calls!!
Well seriously though just don't encourage her otherwise she will just go on and on and that is such a boring nightmare!! Get her to start journalling or something, that way she can do her talking on paper. Well I'm not saying shut her off completely, but do try and set some limits, change the conversation, maybe in a humourous but not hurtful way?

Yeah, my friend had sex with this guy.. now shes claiming that she loves him (even know she hasent known him long) and he's my ex.. who i went out with for a year, and she thinks i don't know anything about him! Anyway, she told him that she was pregnant.. and he found out later on that she was only faking to be pregnant so he would want to be with her.. Now she is totally OBSESSED with him.. It's kind of annoying.. Shes only 16.. She doesnt even know him. There's nothing you can do.. theyre always gonna be like that.

ahhh, the "nolstalgeic" relationship. Please remind your friend
that they broke up for a reason, and because maybe he/she
is going through a lonley spell right now, they are forgetting all
the reasons why they are not together anymore. Its tempting
to do this, (i do it from time to time) but in all simplicity, this is truly the best way to deter yourself from getting nostalgic.

Unfortunately this kinda thing takes time... eventually even she will get bored of it and move on... till then, either be patient or avoid her like the plague!
