The "Tesla Coil" was invented by Nikola Tesla. It is a disruptive coil used to create extremely high-voltage bolts of electricity. Tesla coils create extremely poweful electrical fields, and have been known to power florescent lights from up to 50 ft away.

For a random demonstration of the Tesla Coil, watch the movie "Coffee and Cigarettes."

The Tesla coil is one of Nikola Tesla's most famous inventions. It is essentially a high-frequency air-core transformer. It takes the output from a 120vAC to several kilovolt transformer & driver circuit and steps it up to an extremely high voltage. Voltages can get to be well above 1,000,000 volts and are discharged in the form of electrical arcs. Tesla himself got arcs up to 100,000,000 volts, but I don't think that has been duplicated by anybody else. Tesla coils are unique in the fact that they create extremely powerful electrical fields. Large coils have been known to wirelessly light up florescent lights up to 50 feet away, and because of the fact that it is an electric field that goes directly into the light and doesn't use the electrodes, even burned-out florescent lights will glow.

Nikola Tesla was an electrical engineer and genius who designed generators and motors in the lat 19th and early 20th centuries. He assisted Edison in fine-tuning the generators at his first commercial power station.
Tesla is most remembered (by those who do) for his invention of a method of transferring electrical power by broadcast.
That is to say, with a Tesla Coil generator, you could power cars, lights and appliances that had the appropriate antenna.
Tesla's method of power transmission was lightyears ahead of the wire transmission system introduced by TAE, but it would have been very difficult to sell subscriptions (taps) when anyone with an antenna could get free power.
Tesla Coils make it possible to broadcast electrical energy through the air. Did I mention he was a genius?

NO, amplifier output has less than 30V p-p. Not high enough to drive the ignition coil to produce 10Kv. Besides, ignition coil was design to run at low frequency like below 60c/s. Most music signal never reach that low frequency. I used SCR to switching 115V AC through the primary coil. It can easily produce 12KV.
