Most by number would probably be New York or California. Most by percentage would be Massachusettes.

Probably Massachusetts. Although the west coast is much more liberal than any other part of the country, Massachusetts per capita probably would get it because the Kennedy machine is so entrenched.

The south used to be, but that isn't true anymore.

Hmmmm. You kind of stumped us. I will bet you that nobody keeps statistics on that issue.

I live in Oregon where the primaries are closed. That means you can't vote in a primary unless you are Democrat or Republican. So there is no Independent vote here. At least, the Independents do not have a substantial voice and no Independent since the 1980's has ever made it to the legislature. So, I know that here you have to be a Democrat or Republican. But what do Independents count as?

Wikipedia has a large article on red/blue divide and says
"Massachusetts is the "most" Democratic. In his 2004 presidential bid, John Kerry won Massachusetts, his home state, with 62% of its vote. But Massachusetts' title as "most Democratic state" is not dependent solely on the margin of victory of a favorite son. In 1972, Massachusetts was the only state carried by Democratic nominee George McGovern. In addition, Massachusetts is the only large state to have an all-Democratic Congressional delegation. Two small states, Hawaii and North Dakota, also have all-Democratic delegations, but Massachusetts has more than three times the number of representatives in the House of Representatives as these two states combined.

Maryland is generally considered to be the second "Bluest" (or most Democratic) state in the nation."

If you are talking about absolute numbers, I would also guess California or New York. If you mean percentage of the population, I would guess Massachusetts, or maybe Minnesota.

I would think the Democratic National Convention would have some sort of statistics of their members by state. I suggest an Internet search on those three words which might lead you to their website which might, in turn, lead you to this data.

I would say number.... CA, but if we are going by percentage, I'd go with a New England state, prolly MA or CT.

There are democrats in TX, than RI, but that dosen't make texas and more Blue!

Oh any NY is not as Democratic as you think, most of the "upstate" is republican, only the urban areas of NYC and LBI make it so strongly blue.
