I recently had an ultrasound done. I am 24 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I was told that I have two fully intact placenta's but only one fetus. The sonography lady said that it was common, and as long as it was delivered with the other placenta, it would be alright. I can't find anything online explaining if there is any dangers in having two placentas. If anyone knows, please inform me. Thanks

This can happen. I've seen it a few times. There is nothing to worry about. The worst that could happen is your baby gets the blood and nutrients it needs more efficiently. The sonographer was right, as long as both placentas deliver with the baby, everything will be fine. If you are really worried, talk to your doctor. It's one of those wierd things that can happen, but it does happen.

There are no dangers. The body and baby will adapt and make room for the extra placenta.
The Dr.s will know exactly what to do during birth to ensure both placentas are delivered after baby.

There really is no 100% explanation, you didn't lose a baby and keep the placenta, don't worry. It is possible the placenta split though...
Talk to your Dr.

Talk to your doctor. If the woman performing the sonogram says it's normal but didn't/couldn't explain what the possible side effects/risks/cause might be, your doctor can.
