portable document format, readable in Adobe Acrobat. The reason for using PDF is that it reproduces the document exactly as it appears in print, can't be edited, reformatted, etc. as in Word or other word processing programs.

A PDF file is nothing more than adobe file. It good to put documents into PDF format if you dont want people to make corrections or changes to it.

A PDF is a Portable Document File. The reason you should use this format is so that the person who will open it will be able to search the document easily and a a table of contents to refer to for easy navigation.

PDF stands for Portable Document Format, that means you can open it by using the Adobe Acrobat software anywhere in the world and it will look the same regardless what the operating system is or what version of microsoft office you have.
plus it has a specific format when it is printed on any PC.
you can convert your winword .doc file to .pdf file by using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional.

P.D.F Portable Document File ...
It's used because not everyone has MS Office Word, so anyone who has Adobe or any other reader like it can open up the file you wish for them to see, without worries of what OS they have what Browser they have or what Program/Software they need to read the orignial file, you just have to save it or convert it or print it as a PDF file :) It's universal!

Well, I know that it's better to send in pdf if you have an excel file or something. That way it's write protected. I know there's other reasons too, but I don't know...
