Salem's Lot sent me searching for a cross necklace in the middle of the night when the tree branches scratched my window. Night Flyer made me wonder if there are psychologically homicical people who think they are vampires. I believe in ESP, and I have always thought it was a beneviolent trait. The Shining gave me cause to worry about ESP and topriaries. Pet Semetary made me cry and made my skin crawl.

My all time favorite, though, is The Stand. It is the classic war between good and evil. Really evil. On the other hand . . . Really good! You can read it as a global turmoil between good and evil. You can also read a more personal interpretation of man's inner struggle between good and evil.

By far, The Stand is King's masterpiece!

I love the Dark Tower books too. I really like all of his books though. I get so mad at the endings sometimes but as soon as a new book comes out I do it all over again. The Tower books were just a little different than the rest. I liked his new book Cell. And I just reread Needful Things.

Pet Semetary was, and still is, my favorite Stephen King book. I don't know if this sounds wimpy or not, but reading that book really scared me. I loved how the main character would have to walk through the woods to get to the burial ground, and he would keep seeing or hearing the wendigo walking around. Still gives me chills when I think about it. The best part was, of course, in the end, when the doctor goes into his neighbor's home, and finds his wife half eaten, and after everything he's sitting in the corner all spooked. God, I love that book.

I do like the Dark Tower series (which I haven't finished yet). But my favorite is probably The Stand (which certainly ties in with the Dark Tower).

i prefer his earlier work over some of the stuff that he is writing now. you can do no wrong with Carrie, It, The Shinning and of course his Dark Tower series. All in all, Stephen King is a really talented writer and is one of my favorite authors of all time.

The Shining. It actually terrified me. I have been meaning to read more but my only opportunity to read would be during work and I work late shift security in an office building. So I think I'm too chicken s*&+ to read Stephen King before I have to walk around a dark, empty office building in the middle of the night.

Although it is co-written with Peter Straub, I feel Stephen King's best novel is The Talisman. The Stand is a very close second though!

I would have to say "Misery." It's extremely well written and, in my opinion, a bit less commercial than other Stephen King novels. I also enjoyed "Bag of Bones" because the characters were very well-developed and the storyline was consistent and fairly believable.
