The real Pistol Pete was a basketball player. Pete Rose was known as "Charlie Hustle" It appears he did that both on and off the field. Based on his on field performance this man must get into the Hall of Fame. If there are no openings take down the bust of Bud Selig he deserves to be in the Hall of Shame. Here is a link to Pistol Pete Maravitch. This guy was amazing

Pete Rose made an agreement with the commissioner of baseball in the late 80's. The agreement was if they stopped an investigation regarding his gambling, he would agree to be banned from baseball for life....including the Hall of Fame. Now Pete wants to be admitted. He should have thought about that before making the agreement.

Pete Rose has, deservedly so, his own shrine next to the Baseball Hall of Fame. His banishment from MLB has less to do with his gambling problems, and more to do with his lieing about haveing bet on MLB. Granted, he never bet on his team, but deceiveing the people by his denials was not only deceitful, but he called a lot of people liars by his denials. None-the-less, since he saved MLB in the late 70s from becoming a minor sport, and his hustle, and determination..., I think the suspension should now end.

The rules of baseball state that if you bet on baseball, you will be banned from baseball (and the Hall) for life.
Pete Rose knew the rules, and he decided to bet on baseball anyways.
Therefore, Pete Rose is banned from baseball and the HOF for life.
It's that simple. It doesn't matter whether or not he ever bet on or against his own team, and it doesn't matter how well he played on the field.
And it especially doesn't matter whether he bet on baseball as a manager and not as a player - you don't put Pete Rose the manager or Pete Rose the player into the Hall - you put Pete Rose the PERSON into the Hall. He knew the rules and went afoul of them, so he now has to suffer the consequences.

to me it is crazy Pete rose isn't in the hall of fame. He was an amazing batter and an amazing player. He should not be shut out of the hall of fame as a player for something he did as a manager. And he didn't bet for the reds to loose he picked them to win.

He is banned from baseball for LIFE (and beyond).
He willingly agreed to that ban, and even signed an afterdavid to the that fact.
Now he wants to cry?
HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE HALL OF FAME....NOT EVEN AS A PAYING CUSTOMER....PERIOD....END OF STORY.

Because hes a liar, if he would have told the truth years ago instead of making money in a book the mlb and its fans probably could have forgiven him.
