I am 33 and 6 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. With my other pregnancies I had no morning sickness, tiredness, early weight gain, etc. With this pregnancy, I have had all the regular pregnancy symptoms before my period was even due. What is your opinion about me possibly carrying twins? My great grandmother was a twin but there have been no twins since. I have my dr. app't next week.

Everyone thought I was having twins because I was showing at like 6 weeks with my second pregnancy, it was crazy. I am 35, and thank god just pregnant with one! The doc said it's because my uterus stretched more from the previous pregnancy. As I got farther along, my belly actually got smaller. I am now 34 weeks and have gained a total of 11 lbs.
I have read up on twins since my husband and I both had a history in our families. My grandpa was an identical, my uncles are fraternal, his sister had two sets of identicals, etc. I read that identicals are a freak and not hereditary, fraternals are because it's due to the ovaries allowing two eggs to be released.
I would say you should prepare yourself psychologically for twins but not get yourself stressed over it. As we get older the ovaries can do funny things. Hopefully yours behaved and only sent out one egg! Take care and have fun at the docs next week, that is the best seeing that little heartbeat the first time!

Twins should have nothing to do with your symptoms. You were fortunate to go through 3 pregnancies without these issues.
My first pregnancy was good, my second was bad which has made me decide not to try again just in case the third is as bad or worse than #2.
I wish you all the best with all your kids and this pregnancy, be in a single or twin.

It's very good that you are having a doctor's appointment next week, so you will know for sure, even though there are cases where that doctor's were unable to tell if it was twins, some times one is so big and he hides the other one. But It might be a possibility, you said twins ran in your family line, I think I would be great if you had twins, Twins also runs in my family I've always hoped that when I do get pregnant that I will have twins, I don't know you, but I would really be glad if you had twins.

All I know is the two pregnancies I had were different. That's probably all it is. But I suppose since there are twins in the family....who knows until you get an ultrasound or they hear 2 heartbeats. I never heard the symptoms were any different with twins. Consider yourself lucky with the first 3!! :)

It's always a possibility, but with my three pregnancies I found that each one was more difficult than the previous. By the third, I too was thinking that I was having twins because I felt so awful and started showing immediately. Maybe you can find out in a week. Good Luck and congratulations!

I thought I might be carrying twins with my current pregnancy also, because I had so many more symptoms so much earlier than with my first. It just turned out to be one little guy in there, so every pregnancy is different. But, you never know, so good luck at your appt.

I would wait till your appointment. Every pregnancy is different, and just becuase you didn't have any symptoms with your others, doesn't mean that you can't with this one. It all depends on hormone levels. Twins is always a possibility, but I wouldn't count on it. It's probably just the way your body is going to react to this pregnancy.

If there is a history of twins in your family, then you have a high chance to carry twins.
