Yes I agree on facing your fears but this is something that will eat you if given the chance! Not talkin about just another broken bone here, You could be shark food.

I'm not a surfer, but if that ever happend to me I doubt I'd have the confidence to go back into the water. Imagine how terrifying that would be - you wouldn't know wether you were going to live or die!

I might in smaller bodies of water where I knew there weren't sharks, but even there I'd be nervous and have to watch my back. You never know...

Have you ever heard of Bethany Hamilton? She got her arm bitten off by a 15 foot tiger shark when she was only 13 years old... and she's back in the water surfing and winning contests and so forth...and she only has one arm!!
But the odds of being bitten by a shark are so low...just about like winning the lottery and the chance of it happening twice are even lower... so i would probably just think of that if it happened to me.
i think the question is hard to answer though because you never really know what you'd do until it happens to you... its just one of those things.

i would surf again, if a shark attacked me it would probably be because my surf board looked like a turtle, if you watched this on animal planet, you should know by know that sharks dont pick and choose people to eat. they dont even like people because were so low in body fat. besides, on statistics, everything counts as a shark attack, from a small bite by a 9inch pygmy shark, to having an arm torn off by a 17 foot great white. bethany hamilton is still surfing isnt she?

There are some million million surfers and 10 million swimmers in the oceans on a daily basis. And approximately 80 shark assaults a year, of which one to 3 are intense. there is particularly no longer various a threat in any respect.

I would DEFINITLY go back out in the water and surf. I don't surf but I know for a FACT that if you do something like that, you know that you have a passion for it. If you have a strong enough passion for whatever you do, you wouldn't give it up just like that. I dance. That's MY PASSION! I have bruised my tailbne twice and that was 2 years ago! I am still having major problems with it. I can't sit on the floor for a long time or anything like that. Simple everyday things are sometimes hard to do if my back starts to hurt but, IT NEVER STOPS ME FROM DANCING!!! I have also sprained--almost fractured---my ankle and I couldn't dance for like 1 month! And I am also having problems with that but I STILL KEEP GOING!!! I guess what I am saying is: DON'T GIVE UP YOUR PASSION IF YOU LOVE IT THAT MUCH THAT IT HAS BECOME YOUR PASSION.

To everyone out there that has read this: Don't give up your dreams. Even if that don't go where you want them to go, always keep them in your heart, mind and the rest of your body---NEVER GIVE THEM UP!!!

yeah I'd go back out. you take a risk when you go into water. it's not our natural habitat and other creatures take offense to us getting too close. ask any diver who's run into jellyfish, barracuda, sharks, and aggressive fish. If you live through the experience it should make you more cautious, but if you love something why should you stop just because there is a risk something bad might happen?

I would definitely find a new hobby. I don't swim in the ocean or lakes where I can't see the bottom for that very reason! I'm a pool girl all the way!

well, the chance of getting attacked by a shark is very very very slim, so i'd probably go out again. but i probably wouldn't ever go back to the beach where i got attacked!

Most of them who do surf are adrenaline junkies and will probably go back and do it again. As for me never If I lived and still had all my extremities connected I would choose a safer sport.

I would find a new hobby. Can't think of one that is worth risking a body part twice for!
