Not a popular war???
Why every redneck in the state of Texas is just sitting by the phone with a beer in one hand --- a 12 GA shotgun in the other, singin' "God Bless America" and just waiting for that call from the Government to go to Iraq,
I keep telling them...this is a bit different ----deer don't shoot back!!!!!
oh well,

"Popular" is very narrowly defined when it comes to WAR.
Most often POPULAR relates to the political situation at the time, and the cause that took any country into war.
POPULAR is also defined by the economy and those who profit.
WAR in general is an enonomy driver, and in many respects gives work to those otherwise without. It also TAKES many who will never have the opportunity to relate to any future economy.
The Viet Nam "WAR" is a great example of unpopular, not only in that it had been going on for at least a quarter century without the USA, but that Not many at the time, who returned to the USA in various ways, were given any respect.
More WARS have been fought, throughout history, in the name of GOD, than for any other reason. On the most simple terms, one cannot WIN a religious debate. Killing, in the name of GOD will never be a WIN, nor will it ever be a resolution.
The current issues are less about GOD in the USA, than they are about GREED,,,sadly, and no one in this will truly ever WIN.

No! every war has been unpopular but during WWI & WWII Americans were more patriotic & sacrificed what was needed for love of country. We live in a selfish & self centered time. It is all about me. How will it help me? Bush had a 73% approval rating after the Twin Towers now it is 33% although 8 out of 10 Americans say they are happy with their lives. The war is unpopular because we have not had a 2nd attack or did we not have a 2nd attack because of war. CNN stands for Communist News Network & that is why they said it.

Because it is a was that is not supported by the citizen of this country. Wars though fought, the citizen have all the rights to say yes or no to declare war. Like the war in Afghanistan, the citizens approved the war because we were attacked by those who means us harm. The war in Iraq is only a political war that the people do not agree with.
After all, it is the govenment by the people, of the people and from the people. It's not the government where the President is the one who choses what we should do or not. After all we never find the weapons of mass destruction that Iraq supposedly have.

CNN is a liberal minded news station. It's not popular though, no war is popular. How could it be? The country was together during WWII, maybe that's what is meant as "popular".

Because all but the most zealously partisan recognize that this war was not about WMD, or terrorism, or anything we were told it was about - it was really about the Bush administration taking advantage of the 9/11 tragedy to advance their agenda; to gain control of the Iraqi oil fields. Most people don't like being lied to, hence the product of those lies is unpopular - especially when things aren't going well.
The sad thing is, many people would forgive the lies if we were successful in Iraq. But we aren't, so people are asking "well, how did we get in this mess to begin with?"

My query is if its not a popular war, then why are we part of it, even though the majority of voters are against it? If the Bush Administration is supporting a war that the American public does not want, isn't this grounds for impeachment?

No, there were not. CNN is saying that so people will hate the war even more. Typical liberals trying to undermine the war effort.

Yes. World War II had high American popular support, at least after Pearl Harbor.

Cause the Invasion of Iraq was unwarranted and clearly initiated to gain more control of the middle East
Americans and Canadians are starting to realize this and not supporting the war
