find a Walt Disney movie about birth Animals birthing.
The first birthday does not mean anything to the baby just to you.
Spend some quality time with family celebrate your baby . As your child grows up the Birthday memories will be grand and full love , not toys cakes and paper hates .

Try to invite 1 or 2 friends of hers and have a lot of balloons, pictures in color of her favorite character, if none, then color print someone colorful, like Winnie the Pooh, Blue's Clues I love it.
Laminated books for party favor is perfect for kids 1 year old.
You can do it at home and have music for them to play and move around. It is only 2 guests with their parents.

Check out birthdayexpress.com. They have party packs for all different types of themes. John Deere, Dora, Barbie, Nemo...everything. The packs come with hats, baloons, invites, the whole shabang. Have the party at a park next to a playground, that way you don't have to come up with as many games. lol.

Just remember that it doesn't have to be this big blowout thing that you spend alot of money on because your daughter will not remember it. If you have a big family, bake a cake and invite them over for a small celebration minus decorations all over and such. Save the money and decorations for a year when they will be able to appreciate it.

It's going to get messy. Do it at home. Try to invite some of your friends with 1 yr olds also. The kids will have fun, but won't remember why, and you can take some great picture for grmma and grumpy old gramps.

Parties at that age are more for the parents. She wont know whats going on so keep it simple. Do a BBQ and put up some balloons.

home or park is fun
when I had my daughters party, since she was the only baby, I had bought a bunch of silly dollar store games for the older kids and they played for hours!
(of course I had beer for the adults!)
