Yes I know this is a stupid question. But me and a friend were actually bored enough to argue about it. And there was another question like this but hardly anybody answered. I personally say he is black.

Just because your skin is black doesn't mean you're an "African-American." Many hispanics including Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, etc. have black/brown skin tones. Tasmanian Aborigines have darker skin colors and they're not African. Most Egyptians don't have black skin but they're still African.

David Ortiz is both black and Hispanic because black does not imply African-American, it implies a darker skin color.

I can't speak for any individuals, but from my observations, Hispanics don't really care for black people all that much. So maybe that's why some are like that.

David Ortiz is from the Dominican Republic which makes his ethnicity Latino but racially he is of African descent. His facial features and hair texture are indications of his racial composition.

He's from the Dominican Republic. One could argue that his race is black & his ethnicity is hispanic, I guess.

Well considering he s from Dominican Republican, which was where some of the slave trades taken place by people by the Spaniards, he s Afro-Caribbean, which means he is black that happens to reside in Latin America (hence the word Latino).

Taino Caciques is Tribe in Dominican Republic with dark skin , the Spanish arrived from Spain in 1482 ( Christopher Columbus ) , they mixed with this tribe , David Ortiz received his last name from the Spanish , he's half Tribe and Spanish ... Ortiz originated from Madrid Spain ! Not a stupid ?
