It will lock up on you, making it almost impossible to fix without rebuilding the whole engine. My dad didn't change or check the oil in one of our cars, and one night, while my sister was driving, it locked up on her. Our mechanic said it was just easier to buy a new engine, rather than having to rebuild it part for part. We did neither. We just got a new vehicle.

If you run out of oil, the piston cannot move up and down freely in the cylinder, and the engine will seize.

The pistons can grate against the cylinders, either wrecking the piston, cracking the cylinder, or both. The former involves a loss of power due to internal pressure failure. The latter creates a pressure loss due to external equilibriation.
Best to get the oil change and have your leaky seals fixed.

oil acts as a lubricant
If there's no oil, nothing stops metal from rubbing on metal.
Parts will scractch against eachother, causing more friction. The heat from the friction can cause parts to break or gauld together.
It's not a pretty sight.

Bad stuff!
The pistons will sieze in the engine block.
The cylinders will be scoured.
Heat will build up.
You'll bust a rod or crank shaft or both.
Not pretty.
Hope this isn't happpening to you...

Friction between moving parts can cause them to expand until the engine "siezes up."

The bearings will seize to your crankshaft. The rings will seize to the cylinder walls. Your motor will be severely damaged. Will need a rebuild.

well, all the pistons won't have any kind of lubricate and then you'll eventually blow your engine and then it's time for a new car.
