is there any way you can edit icons in my computer and windows explorer so i can replace them with vista style icons
i would rather do it this way instead of messing up the registry with desktop editing programs
any ideas?

To customize your desktop icons (the main ones) then go to Control Panel, then Display, then click on the Desktop tab and click on Customize Desktop.

To customize individual icons, just right click on the icon you want to change and click on PROPERTIES. Click on Customize tab, then there is an option below to change icon.

There are several spots in the registry that make the icon assign for the specific thing. I recommend you do not do that manually (Sorry I can't remember the places in the registry)

I think the vista inspirat pack is good enough for your icons.
