I'm giving you the choice, I'll do whats left.

Oh, the post holes are in hard pan clay and must be a minimum of 30 inches.
The lawn is level but it will take at least 3 1/2 hours.

Well heres an idea.Do both. The trick to digging postholes is to attach a 3/4 inch piece of pipe to a garden hose/turn on the water and wash the dirt(yes even hardpan clay but not rock) to a little deeper than you want it then use the post hole digger to widen it.If chain link pipes just run the water down the pipe as you push it into the ground. Should take 3 hrs or so and the water will keep you cool. So say 4hr on postholes(don't worry about filling them in the rain will do that) and 4hrs mowing thats only half a days work down here;^)

I would probably want to mow the lawn, but I would also help with the holes because that will surely take longer and be more difficult.

I'd definately mow the lawn! I love the smell of fresh cut lawn, even if it means push mowing the whole thing! :)

Post holes...I always liked doing that, but the lawn just never really appealed to me :) Besides that, I would probably cut the lawn too short and it would die....so I should stick to the post holes
