Certainly, but then all the people of african decent that were born in this country could not.

But good question, it shows how silly this naming thing really is.

those white south africans probably wont find it beneficial to call themselves african americans in this country.

regardless of where they were born and raised, because their appearance is white -- they still have that package of positive preconceptions to help them out in society.

these 'names' that be label groups of people with no longer carry only implications of a persons' physical appearance-- they carry notions of experiences with and among society.

if they would really like to -- sure why not .. it is a 'free country' as the playground saying goes. but if they WANT to .. thats another question.

Of course. They are the true African Americas, there are MANY white africans not just in SA.

Yes why not? that's what they are. i am black i don't consider myself an African American. They have more right to use it than I do. I was born in America. Hell....I'm American. No matter what.
