President George W. Bush said that he would not seek a third term, how would you react?
I would have like to see Buhs run a third term, but I would respect Bush's decision after eight years in office not to seek office a third time.

The Constitution of the United States of America only allows a President to run two terms but I am asking if there was not Amendment to the Constitution allowing Presidents to seek the Presidency over and over, how would you react if Bush dediced not to seek a third term.

I agree - he would be an excellent President for as long as he chose to serve, however it's not up to him. The Constitution would have to amended, as it currently does not allow anyone to serve more than two elected terms in office, so he will have to retire as of January 20, 2009. Currently, the longest tenure that anyone could serve in office would be three terms - that is if the President died on Inauguration Day, his Vice President would be eligible to serve out the rest of that term, plus two more terms, if he were to be elected on his own. This came about in the late 1940's and early 1950's, as Republicans wanted to prevent anyone from serving as long as Franklin D. Roosevelt did (who served just a tad more than 12 years, dying early in his 4th term).

Mr. Knowledge, you have reached an all time low, much like the idiot that you worship. 71% of the people disapprove of the way that he is running the country. He cannot run for a third term, per Constitution. Thank god for small favors. You have to remember that if Bush can get a third term so can Clinton and I am sure that Clinton could kick his *** back to Texas in a tour bus.

The Constitution limits the Presidency to two terms. It would take a constitutional ammendment to allow a third term.
Also, Bush swore to perserve and protect the constitution.

If the republicans somehow managed to change the rule (that they created because of FDR) about a president only being able to serve 2 terms, it is time for people to get very worried. I don't think that the republicans would want him to run for a third term though, because I doubt that he would win.

I am a registered republican...I didn't vote for Bush in 2004, and I wouldn't ever again. The Man has some serious issues. I call it ..."A Wolf in Lambs Clothing" syndrome. He claims to be a Christian, but he's really a Devil worshiper...or worse yet, an Atheist...(Those who don't think there is ANY power greater than themselves)

I'd thank God, really. But due to the fact that a Democrat was fairly voted in for 13 straight years troubled the Repubs, so thus the amendment. With Bush, hell after Reagan, I thank God for that amendment too.

That would mean Clinton (Bill not Hillary) could run as well. And frankly he could beat Bush even if Monica's head never left the area of his zipper.
But I don't think Bill would have any good solutions to North Korea or Iraq and Iran.

Gosh, can one man fail anymore than GWB.
Nothing he has set out to accomplish (except maybe setting the courts to the right) has been achieved.
When he was thumping his chest and talking about "Political Capital", what happened.....?
Iraq became even more of a quagmire and his Social Security Initiative that he spent six months trying to sell, went nowhere.
Even if you support GWB, you have to ask "Why did it take him a year and a half speak of the "Gay Marriage" debate?
You guys are such suckers.

First of all, I think you know that he can't run for a third term.
If it were possible, and he said that he would run, I would know for sure that all the election-rigging features he put in place to scam the last two elections were alive and well.
I would think there would suddenly be a lot more places we suddenly had a "reason" to invade and waste young lives on.
