Some helpful facts

• Peak acne years are 14–17 in females and 16–19 in males. As many as 40% of females and 35% of males are affected during these years.

• Keep your hands to yourself …
touching skin encourages the spread of bacteria and excess oils, leading to breakouts.

• Excessive cleansing and scrubbing can make acne worse.

A deep-cleaning wash that unclogs pores, while keeping outbreaks under control with acne-fighting salicylic acid that prevents new blemishes, without drying skin. Peppermint helps to open your pores and allows them to be cleansed from the inside. This means pores appear to be smaller, giving you a more youthful appearance.

I use a combo of Seabreeze (2% salicylic acid) cleanser and either dial soap (containing triclosan which has antibiotic properties, or you can buy organic products like lichen, but dial soap is easy to find and inexpensive) or cetaphil everyday (morning and night), a tube of 10% benzoyl peroxide (store brand) about 2-3 times a week (depending on break-out, it dries skin), apricot scrub twice a week, and a good non-comodigenic moisturizer. These are similar to the ingredients in ProActive and you aren't spending much money to get the same results... believe me I know.

Proactiv does not work for everyone and can burn your skin. Toothpaste can overly dry your skin so that is not for everyone. I would recommend making an appointment with a dermatologist so that they can look at your skin to suggest the best treatment. Certain skin disorders like Rosacea can be easily controlled by avoiding "triggers" like too much direct sun, certain spicy foods, controlling stress--anything that makes you flush.

Bottom line: Go pay a visit to the dermatologist. Good luck to you! They have helped me.

As much as it has been said everywhere, ProActiv definitely works. I got the whole line of products you're supposed to use. It cleared up pimples very quickly. However, I found that using all of the products as directed can be sort of drying and irritating to your skin. So I have two products that I use - the repairing lotion and the face mask. These work great!!
